The Fatherhood Project - Our Video!

I mentioned back in this post that our family did some filming back in February for a Soul Pancake project: The Fatherhood Project.

Our video is now live!!!!

I've been blown away by each episode so far (this episode on parenting a child with autism is making all kinds of noise).

What an honor to be a part of this. It's humbling and fun to share our rowdy lives and messy home with you. We believe in adoption and family. We believe we're better together. We believe in doing hard things and going to strange places. We believe all there is is Jesus, and we believe we'd be out of our minds not to follow Him wherever He happens to lead.

Have a look.

  2. POWERFUL! CONVICTING! INSPIRING! I'M GONNA SHARE & RECOMMEND THIS VIDEO LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW! And watch it again and again until it soaks in to my noggin, and then, do something about it. I think my kids have some bubble wrap stuck to their backs, and I have clumps of it over my eyes and heart, sometimes. HOW TIMELY! our kids hope kids at school... oh do they need some extra lovin', and so do their folks. we've got one coming out of suspension (a 4th grader, mind you), and another starting his suspension this week. :(

  4. Love it all!!! Love hearing your voices, but even more I love hearing what you say. What a special family you are. God bless you for the steps you've taken in your life and for sharing them with us.

  5. Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for being obedient to what the Lord has called you to do. My husband and I are on a similar journey and your example is such an encouragement as we struggle through letting go of our comfort and our old life in order to embrace the new. On a completely different note, can you please share your desk/office area. I had to rewind the video and pause to drool a little bit ;)

  6. I don't comment often, but come here daily. I love, love, love this video. He beautifully captured your family - and the story God is writing in your lives.

Thank YOU for all you do.

  8. Don't laugh, but: your voice is much more mellow and deep than I thought it'd be. I thought it'd be high and giggly (in a good way). Isn't it weird how we read someone's writing with a particular voice? Wild.

    1. I have a man voice. It's true.
Being almost 6' tall will do that to a gal. :)

    2. EXACTLY what I was going to say! I also was surprised by Shannan's voice!

    3. I love getting to hear the voices of people I've gotten to "know" over the internet...and agreed with Shannan's voice! But Shannan, it's totally not a man voice! Lol! It's just more mellow like Jennifer said! More warm and like someone I could talk to and feel comfortable about it :)

  9. Now this is a life to be proud of. It really shows just how far away most of us are from putting ourselves out there and doing what God intended for us to do. Thank you and your family for pushing us toward the edge. Hopefully we will "jump" soon and realize that with God we can fly instead of fall.

  10. Ok so I loved seeing your life - there's something so weirdly familiar about it, like it rings so similar to my own life :-) oh and Robert, melt my heart a million times - I need to hug all of your necks asap. I watched the video with Caden this morning and he kept saying "is dat one of da boys?" every time he saw Robert :-)

Also, I pictured your voice differently too. Not sure why I thought you'd have a southern accent since you live in Indiana.

  16. Love this! My husband left his career in property management and development to be a nurse at our county jail (and also at our county health clinic), and we moved downtown to be near his work and in the community where he works. Crazy? Yes. Now we are packing and moving to Africa. I love your husband's comment on how our children aren't fragile.
