The Ladies Are Back

My shade-dwelling peonies are dressed to the nines today.

I've always had a soft-spot for a late bloomer.

You probably already know exactly how I feel about peonies, but on the off chance that you don't and you're just dying to know, go here.

And thank you all for your encouragement regarding our newest house guest. It's fun celebrating good news with all'ayoun's.

  9. Mine didn't last so long around here this year. They were "gone" before I knew it. Sad day. But, I kept thinking of your last year's post on your peonies; it made me smile then, and it still does today.

    lovely ladies - for sure.

  11. Peonies are one of my faves! I just adore them. They're easy to grow, beautiful AND fragrant--you couldn't ask for more. Mine have been done for several weeks now. It's so hot here they were done early.

  14. So my peonies were showstoppers this year Min. Show flippin' stoppers. Then. It stormed, and it took them away, and now I have to wait 358 more days until I can see them again. And then, a tree fell, and then a car ran into the tree after it fell, and then the county came and took it away, and then, my peonies were still gone. 358 days baby.

I wanted them in my wedding bouguet... unfortunately, I got married in late August ;)

I love their classy, vintage feel with a dash of spiritedness.

  18. I heart peonies, too. We went on a ten day trip to visit family about a month ago. While we were gone, our peonies bloomed and shed. I didn't get to see a single bloom. Doesn't that break your heart?

  20. My peonies are not blooming YET here in MN. It was a late/non-existent spring, but they look like they "want" to bloom soon! Last year was my first bloom and question: how to get all of the ants off of them so you can enjoy the cut flowers??!

Am yearning to know more about your houseguest.

    All in due time.

    Holla!

  23. I love peonies & hydrangeas & lilacs & climbing roses........

  24. ok. my only memory of peonies involves lots and lots of black ants crawling all over them...do you find this to be an issue? Because I want some if there are no ants involved.

Must chat with you. Call me on the telly when you get time! :) (No rush!)

  25. 'Panties' as my kids call them, are the one thing I miss about growing up in Nebraska. They remind me of my Grandma. We don't get peonies in Texas, or Mauritius for that matter, and that's a shame.

  26. So fleeting, but so heartachingly beautiful.

Love that you have a teenager in your house. We have two of our own. Amazing how you evolve with them. There are no off-cuts with love and this is an amazing investment of love in the midst of your home and family. Respect Shannon. xxx
