Let's Pause for a Moment of Silas

Well-worn is the path between Silas and...

The time-out chair.

He sits right down (sometimes with help) and makes himself comfortable.

He'll start crying, "Sorry, Mama! Sorry, Mama!"

I ignore it.

Then he moves on to, "Sorry, Daddy! Sorry, Daddy!"
(Even though Daddy usually isn't even here.)

Again - he gets nothing.

In a final, desperate plea, he shouts, "Sorry, People! Sorry, People!"

Then he just gets mad.

Then he gets stinking cute.

Incidentally, how are you feeling about the effectiveness of photographing your kid's cuteness whilst in time-out?

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty good about it, too.

  2. How cute is he in those little feetie jammies? I was thinking about how he was reacting to your photo session during a time-out lol! Does he get a few bonus points for apologizing to his peeps? So adorable!

  12. Okay, but here's the Awesome Thing: Silas gets it!!!

Look at the world around us. Wouldn't the world be a much terrifically better place if we were all better at saying "Sorry People!"

  14. I swear (but don't tell my Mama that I did) that you could make a paper plate look fun. Poor Siley. Incidentally, my Riley also spent an obscene amount of time devoted to his little corner of the world at Siley's age. Hear the similarities... Siley... Riley... I think we have something here...

  27. time-outs are just not effective in our house .... yet. they've got me wrapped around their fingers and i am a fool because of their cuteness.

  28. I love reading your blog. What a crack up! Just so you know, don't video said tantrum. My husband did to show my daughter how ridiculous she looked. Instead she kept watching it on the ipod, so I got a repeat performance over and over until I figured out how to delete it :) Also, don't video the cuteness of a pots and pan jam session. 100 plus times later on the ipod loses some of the cuteness!

  32. The concept of timeout chairs wasn't around when my third child/second son was young. Otherwise, I would have had to buy a dozen! Hang in there! Although I still have my moments with my son, they are fewer now.

  33. Oh Shannon, you have the cutest, funniest kids ever. I think you are preparing them for a life of fame, if one can stand paparazzi in the timeout chair, one can stand it anywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Seriously. hahahahha. You took pictures of him in the time out chair!!!!! Ok. He is adorable. lol How much younger is he than my Hobbit? I think those two stinkers would get along great!

  45. Ok, I am just dying laughing now...yesterday, we put M in time-out. She does this huffing thing and bops her head around...well, she accidentally (lightly) hit her head on the wall. Her dad and I immediately busted out laughing.

Good parenting skills...laughing at your daughter hitting her head. Good job.

But of course, we made her even madder, so at this point, I couldn't do anything but let her go.

  46. Okay I am dying of laughter...thank you for that...I sometimes and I won't name names take pictures of my kids in time out to show them how ridiculous their pleas get...so this totally made me laugh
