I'm trying to write a novel in my spare time after the little one's bedtime too. I sometimes read blogs from writers who tell me to turn off my phone in the morning and work uninterrupted for 5 hours if I want to accomplish anything, and I feel like punching through the laptop screen and slapping them in the face.

I'm with you on the no-brain-power-after-12-hours-of-kid-conversation... I wonder if my husband would ever consider taking the kids out after dinner during the week so I could start writing music again... He is usually (at least acts like he is) more tired than me... though the idea sounds dreamy :)
This is a perfect topic for me, right now, as I've been asked to write a book and am having trouble getting started. I'm taking a workshop in May, but I'm sure your tips will give me something to think about. I'll pop on over....thanks : )! xx Suzanne
