1. I love my kids.
2. But it is 20 degrees outside and has been for quite some time.
3. We're all a little cooped up.
4. And did I mention that the pink car was on the fritz for 3 days last week?
5. I did not leave the house for nearly 72 hours, save a pre-school run in a borrowed Honda Element.
6. I also dislocated my knee last week, which is neither here nor there, but it has caused me some minor sleep disturbances, further exacerbating my cooped-up-ness and general fatigue.

I would dress much warmer.
I would most definitely go upstairs and kiss my sleeping babies' forheads, smiling wistfully over how magnificently precious they are asleep and on the heels of a day to myself, but this isn't Seven on Sunday, now, is it?
PS - Is it just me, or do I sound really thirsty?
Save yourself two hours of your life that you will never get back...skip How Do You Know. Terrible, just terrible.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
:) (we had pancakes tonight.) & I saw you at that 4:30 movie.... dont' tell anyone I left my kids at home alone. they're under the age of 12....
ReplyDeleteAdorable post!! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas! Hugs, Rachel ;)

I want to see True Grit... With no kids at home I always want to sleep in but never manage to do it. On my days off from the4 grand kids I think today I will take a nap, or read in my bed in the afternoon, or watch a movie all snuggled up in bed... never do it. Why do I always think I have to stay busy??? One day I will...
ReplyDeleteKiss those babies whilst you can! My baby is 24 today. How did that happen???
the grand kids not 4... I need to cut my fingernails!! sheesh
ReplyDeleteOnce you wake up, call me and I will meet you for #s 2-4, then go home and read a book I haven't had any time to touch let alone read. Great choices!
ReplyDeleteWonderful list! Mind if I join you? I was just saying tonight that I am in need of a day to myself...it's been a while, a long while.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I do agree, the time does go by fast. My babies are going to be 23 and 21 in a couple of weeks. However. It sounds like a day I'd love... can I come too? We don't have any Panera's in my neighborhood and I'm the only one in my household that eats Mexican (although my daughter is home for a week and we're going to Mexican twice!) and my husband hates any kind of movies.... I'll even pay for the fountain Cokes (which when purchased AT the movies is really a splurge)! :)
ReplyDeleteChris
It sounds like an absolutely wonderful day to me. It is amazing what you can find in your purse whilst at the cinema.
ReplyDeleteIf I lived there or you lived here we could definitely work out one of those kid-swap days my sister & I do. :)
ReplyDeleteAlone time is fabulous. I grew up as an only child and I can tell you I still love to be alone. Me, my tea and I.
ReplyDeleteoh it all sounds so dreeeeamy... :)
ReplyDeleteoooh, I just thought of something.. i must email you right away!
This sounds like an amazing day. I always dream of going to the movies by myself and watching back to back movies.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound lovely, especially the part about sleeping in, lunch out, and drinking tea with a book...I know your evening lounge ways so well I automatically inserted "ugly BLUE" before blanket...actually had to re-read to clarify!!! Heres hoping you get some of your wish list over the holiday break!
ReplyDeletenow I'm thirsty!
ReplyDeleteAnd I want a cobb salad!!
the fighter? really?
What about tron? or, um, whatever else is out right now.
Your day sounds delicious and restful and entertaining.
I have packed my entire kitchen and i have two days left before I move. Rats. So, what do we eat? I ask you.
seriously. But at least I don't have to pack the kitchen still. Anyway, your post made me miss real home food, which is funny since you were talking about eating out the whole time, but that's how my brain works.
p.s. I don't even know what Tron is. I missed it the first time.
ReplyDeletePretty wonderful list!!
ReplyDeletePanera sounds so good right now! The necklace in the book picture is realy cute!
ReplyDeletelove those too...and I would definitely eat tomato soup without croutons too!!!
ReplyDeleteI daydream about a day at home by myself to read and/or putter around the house. I love the idea of sleeping until 10, but the reality is that I don't think I'm capable of it. Sadly, 7:00 has become sleeping in for me!
ReplyDeleteLove your day!! Although I would tweak it (no tomato soup) we could definitely get along!
ReplyDeleteAlso, LOVED a Girl Named Zippy and I just requested your book from my library! Thanks for the introduction;)
Amen! Your list reads much like mine would. Please...what book are you reading? We have similar 'reading taste' as the last list you posted, I had read all of them as well. Please share! -- thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteI'm a stay at mommy and even though I have only one little peep (10 months) sometimes I think "if only I could just have day to my self" although I wouldn't watch tv/movie, that would make the time move to fast, no I would browse through antique stores and grab lunch out. ReplyDeleteI think for Christmas you need a day to yourself to savor and recharge!
ReplyDeleteOh girl...are you sure you want to do all that alone?? I'd love to ride sidecar:) Hope that knee feels better...ouch! Praying you find a few minutes to yourself today. Perhaps an uninterrupted hot shower:) Love you!
ReplyDeleteSounds dreamy, especially since you mentioned M.
ReplyDeletecute list. I know anything following a disclaimer has to be good!
ReplyDeleteSweet....Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteThis is a great list & I want to do all those things too! You know I just said to Jade - what did we do before we had kids? I don't remember ever going on dates or doing anything out of the ordinary - maybe because it was normal to go on a date whenever we wanted. Now, if I can find a sitter - probably once a month if that - we are thrilled to go on a date. And what did I do in my alone time? I have no clue!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfectly lovely day... now were you thinking "alone" as in NO KIDS, or "alone" as in NO ONE? Because for me, "alone" is usually just No KIDS. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe only thing you forgot on your list is that you would be able to go to the bathroom....ALONE...with out an audience or any emergency..."MOOOOOOOMS" being called out!
ReplyDeleteDislocated knee? Farmgirl, do tell how such an event transpired.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember when we ate at Panera that long ago September day?
Memories....light the corners of my mind.....misty watercolor memories....of the way we were.
Scattered pictures.....of the smiles...
Okay, I'm done.
ouch on your bummed knee!!
ReplyDeletePretty much everything on your list is on mine..except I'd also find my way to a bookstore and sit for hours reading some old classic...or maybe just some us weekly mags.. :)
my most favorite part of this post is that you started it with 6 disclaimers...
we could be good friends!
I want your head board. Please can I have it? You have NO idea how long I've been searching for an old gate/ iron fence for that purpopse. Totally looking forward to the same movies;) And peeing by myself...can't believe that didn't make the list:D
ReplyDeletepurpose. not purpopse:P
ReplyDeletePanera yum..had it today!! Movie saw it...not very good! Hope you get a day away soon to refresh, always important!
ReplyDeleteCute- haha yeah I kept thinking you better add a potty break in there somewheres....hahaha
ReplyDeleteThat sounds SOOOOO good to me. Everything. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteSidenote: I absolutely love your headboard!
ReplyDeleteI will join you for 3 & 4, and 5 if Cory can't make it. And I've got #6 in my hands!
ReplyDeletesounds like HEAVEN! I always get the tomato soup too.
ReplyDelete1. Fountain pop is the best!
ReplyDelete2. I know where you're coming from. I've been having that feeling lately too. Mom's are always with someone!
3. I want to see both of those movies, but will probably have to wait for them on DVD.
4. If it wasn't a day to yourself I would tag along in a heartbeat!
Curious to know if that Mazatlan mexican restaurant you mention so much on the blog is really authentic mexican or tex-mex? Not that white folks know the difference...just sayin.
ReplyDeleteIt's authentic, baby. I'm not into Tex-Mex.
