I was not expecting it. I fumbled around for the pause button, knowing all the while that there wasn't one. I had always pictured Cory by my side when "this" happened. And I surely never imagined it coming on the heels of a bedtime battle.
My guy has made leaps and bounds, but he's still prone to anxiety. He worries about bad dreams and he hasn't said so, but I know he's nervous about school starting on Tuesday.
Now, come Tuesday, I'll be sending him off with his new watch, his gigantic backpack and Jesus in his pocket.
I never imagined it this way, but I couldn't possibly have imagined it better.

I really have no words Shabby. No words. I wish I could have seen it. Oh how happy it makes me. My soul is rejoicing with you! I'm not sure, but I do think that Calvin will end up being Jesus' favorite. Fo' real.
ReplyDeleteRejoicing with you and your family. What sweet news to share!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! There is nothing sweeter than being there and guiding your child when he accepts Jesus.
ReplyDelete"Jesus in his pocket"...a comfort to him AND you in the great big world of Kindergarten!
ReplyDeletePraising the Lord with you!

ReplyDeleteUncle Landon & Aunt Lori
That's wonderful Shannan! Praise God!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific praise and hallelujah! Bennett just asked Jesus into his heart a few weeks ago and like you, I wished I had a manual to make sure I was doing and saying the right things. Then I remembered that God knows exactly what our heart is feeling yet sometimes our lips can't say:) There is no better feeling than knowing your kids are His kids! I pray for a wonderful first week of Kindergarten for Calvin .. Bennett starts next Wednesday and boy am I nervous. More than him I'm sure - it's hard sending our babies off into the big world .. but we have a much bigger God!!!
ReplyDeleteHow fantastic! Celebrating with you!! :)
ReplyDeletehooray! such wonderful news and such a wonderful way to send him off into the world of the big K.
ReplyDeleteHow AWESOME is that?? The angels are rejoicing tonight with us!! This is what life is all about. I remember when each of you made that awesome decision. It NEVER loses its thrill. Tell our buddy we love him and are so happy for him. As for Tuesday, its his teacher who should have sweaty palms!! Hope she has the chemistry books dusted off.

ReplyDeleteWell, praise the Lord!! It just doesn't get any better than that, does it? God's timing is so perfect. He doesn't have to go off to Kindergarten alone!
ReplyDeleteOh my heart jumped for joy! I am doing the happy dance along with the angels! Yay! WooHOO!

Yay Shannan! All my boys accepted the Lord with their daddy by their side - what a treat for you!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the fam, Mr. Lee.
It's is something really to think that He calls out to those little ones. May this post speak to any who are in doubt.
ReplyDeleteThat they feel the touch of Him just like that and are drawn. May this be a special time for you all over there as you celebrate your little boys response. I so pray for my own children's hunger for the Lord in a deep and abiding way. So so joyous for you.
THis was just what I needed to read at 1am last night. "My boy asked Jesus into his heart tonight." I just felt like crying, happy tears of course! What a wonderful, joyful sentence, that comes with so much peace as well.
ReplyDeleteI was up because I could not sleep after watching a heart wrenching movie (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - holocaust related). I would tell you to watch it as a movie-watcher, but not as a mama. I have never lost sleep over a movie - till last night. It was excellent and horrible all the same. Though it was fiction, the facts were all truth. I hate being reminded of the evils of the world... and then - i logged on and read your post...
Thank you for sharing this lovely bit with us:-) I smiled and felt more peaceful in knowing that THIS is the ultimate answer to it all. Thank you Jesus for saving us:-) !!!
Yay Calvin!!! How amazing it is to witness the Spirit's work in the heart of our children. What a JOY!
ReplyDeleteEver since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called — his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. (Ephesians 1:15-19, NLT)
ReplyDeleteAnd I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ... (Ephesians 3:17-18, NIV)
Yay!!!!!!!!!! So very excited about this :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great moment to share with your child, or with anyone for that matter!

ReplyDeleteOh FPF, I have tears of joy for Calvin. I'm just thrilled for you. He's the same age I was when Jesus moved into to my heart. It's so awesome to think that Calvin will know God's presence in his life for so long that he may have a hard time remembering life without Jesus. And that is a precious gift.
