The Final Countdown

I have been a bit M.I.A. Scattered, some might say. Frazzled, even.

But I've got my reasons...

Sarah is getting hitched - at my house - in less than 2 days!

We've been scrubbing, weeding, setting up, brainstorming, trouble-shooting, confusing ourselves and one another all day long. Part II begins in roughly 10 hours.

Youn's are going to swoon over this wedding. Well, you'll either love it, or you'll think it looks a tiny bit like a junk yard. (There are bound to be a few stragglers out there who don't understand the appeal of chippy wood and rusty wrought iron as wedding decor.)

The flowers will knock your socks off. And just to be clear, the flowers on this post are not the wedding flowers, because it's bad luck for the blogging community to see the bride's flowers before the Big Day. It's true.

But while we're on the topic, aren't the flowers on this post positively salivicious?

I will leave you with a few teasers, because that's just the kind of girl I am:

Aqua blue. Mason jars. Burlap. Cutest flower girl in the history of the world. Dreamy vows. Worst Matron of Honor toast in the history of the world. Fresh strawberry pie. Goat cheese. My Best Friend's Wedding.

Oh, and Ralphie? He doesn't know it yet, but he's heading off for an all-inclusive vacation in the pole barn. I saved back his latest issue of Ornithology Today and we hooked up his DS, so he should be fine.

  5. Can't wait to see the pics!! I totally get the rusty iron and wood for wedding decor, as I had moss-covered rocks as the foundation of our centerpieces! :) Good luck and enjoy! And yes... the flowers are to-die-for.

  9. My daughter got married last year and we had the reception at our house... chippy wood decor, wild flowers in enamel pitchers, hog roasted, choc. chip cookies and strawberry pie all served up in old wooden cattle troughs. It was lovely! ( etheledith.com-littletrailerbigpeople) Have an amazing time. I am positive it will be gorgeous!!

  16. Hey girlie,
Did you know it's a secret dream of mine to have a country wedding? At nineteen I never would have wanted that. It was traditional all the way. But now...oh to dream. I have a feeling that the one you will share will be just what I'd love to do. Have fun:)

However, she had a tiny country church wedding with my Uncle as the pastor & then the reception in my Dad's barn with all the fixing of country life. It was too die for wonderful. Oh you guys are going to have the BEST day!

  28. praying for you both! this wedding will be absolutely smashing (and just to be clear, i mean that in a britishy sort of way as opposed to a literal sort of way).

ps i do not believe you about 'worst matron of honor toast' unless that is code for 'most articulate, soul-stirring matron of honor toast in the history of the world.'

  35. It sounds so much like the perfect wedding to me! The weather is going to be perfect today! All that rain last night probably really perked up your garden and gave everything the freshness that that this day deserves. I hope you can enjoy it! I have 20 more days til my garden climax - and then I'm so taking the summer off!

  36. it sounds absolutely wonderful! I will love it.

  38. Way back one hundred years ago in a different lifetime I had a country wedding. I planned to walk through the wild-flower filled meadow to the old oak tree where the vows were being said. The day before the wedding, my future Father-In-Law MOWED the entire field with the tractor. He couldn't see the wild flowers, all he saw was WEEDS! I should have known then that any marriage into that family was likely doomed....I know you have a much better understanding of the importance of wildflowers, and rusty, chippy decor for the perfect country wedding! Have a wonderful time, and many blessings to the happy couple!

  43. Let's get one thing straight first: it was the BEST, most touching matron of honor toast evah! You rocked it! I can't wait to see your pics and tell our story, but you have to start with the evening of the rehearsal dinner to set the stage. Seriously. I love how one of your bloggies offered up mason jars at the eleventh hour. So sweet. And all the well wishes. Btw,we saw a dead mouse on the sidewalk this morning.
