Beauty Where I Find It

The secret to contentment and joy?

Find beauty every single day. (And not just in the faces of your babies - they're freebies.)

Rest your eyes on it for a while.

Sometimes the beauty is obvious.

Other times, it waits to be plucked up like a bloom in the midst of the disorganized chaos of my dresser top.

I wonder sometimes what causes me to notice these random acts of beauty. It wasn't always this way. I didn't always notice.

What I know for sure is that this is one of the ways that God speaks to me. He has opened my eyes to the everyday things around me.

What I know for sure is that I am so thankful.

  1. Well said! There is much beauty in random simplicity, so much so that we tend to overlook it, take it for granted, almost. I think God definitely is speaking to you, loud and clear.

  2. It's such a blessing, isn't it? Yesterday while visiting our future village, I stopped smack in the middle of the road to stare at a beautiful Autumn colored leaf laying on the brick street, wishing desperately for my camera while Jim impatiently tried to tug me away before the oncoming car almost took me out. Clearly he's not in the same place that I am or he would have stood there beside me admiring that perfection. Oncoming car be damned.

  3. Amen! I love our heavenly father who showers us with good and perfect gifts! (yes, even our children!) Have a blessed day!

  4. I am basking in the beauty of the rain falling on yellow leaves!!!! :o)

  5. Lovely. In a random sort of way :)

  6. Strange thing---I think God brought blogging into my life to stop and notice things more...could that be?

As always, I enjoy reading into your story :)

  7. I think the tape measure really accentuates the random beauty of the dresser.
