Independence Day Remix

We had the privilege of hosting our family for 4th of July again this year. (Our home has become the perennial favorite for shooting off fireworks thanks to its wide open spaces.)

But first, the food!

I cannot explain the angle that I chose to photograph this delectable cake. If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times, I am a photographic dunce.

Can you believe we had no recent shots of the 4 of us together? We only realized this because we are required to send a few "family shots" as part of our adoption home study. This one is us - to a T!

Next came the sparklers.

And some lawn chair lounging.

And some lookin' cute.

And then, some cheering through a haze of pollutant-laced smoke.

Then, they filled the grandstands for the Big 'Uns.

Except for those who preferred to stay a little closer to Nana and wear ear plugs and attempt a quadruple-handed ear cover. (I just want to smooch that lip. Don't you?)

Finally - a group shot of the sisters (one of which is a cousin who is basically an honorary sister). LOVE these girls.

Happy Independence Day!

  6. I'm pretty disappointed there was no mention of our grandest of finales and no pictures of our weapons cache ... really girly view of July 4th ... needs some testosterone.

  9. Looks like a wonderful celebration.

Inspired by your maps in your new bathroom, I made a great purchase in a local second hand bookshop today - will post about it later in the week.

    Thanks :)

  10. What a fun night and the food looked really yummy!!

I actually thought of you today. The corn down here is taller than me and I thought of finding a piece of grass and standing next to it. Made me think of you for some reason;)
