Rainy Monday

I know there are some of you who wish that every day would be 82 degrees and sunny, with just enough breeze to ruffle your bangs.

Not me. It's precisely this belief that convinced me years ago that I am just about as Midwestern as they come. Trust me, I gripe with everyone else when it snows in April. And I don't particularly relish the fact that I am currently wearing tube socks, jeans, a long sleeved t-shirt and a cardigan, but days like today ensure that those sunny days waiting right around the corner will be just a little more appreciated by yours truly.

Days like today also provide me with a perfect excuse to: make a favorite "cold weather" casserole for dinner, throw the wash in the dryer instead of hanging it on the line, and pretend I've never even met our garden hose.

As for tonight, I've got big plans to hunker down and watch all 2 hours of The Bachelorette.

What do you like to do (or not do) on days like this?

  1. I use rainy spring days as an excuse to take a nap when the kids do, curl up on the couch with a good book, or watch a movie. If its still raining by bedtime that's even better....it means I am in for a great night's sleep!

  2. On a day like today (until the sun came out) if I could do anything I wanted I would watch a good movie or read a good book and catch up on my sleep. And tonight, no matter what the weather's like I'll probably be watching The Bachelorette too ;) Hope you are enjoying your day!

  3. I have to agree. I think us New Englanders and you Midwesterners are very much alike in that thinking! Though it is sunny here today, it is cool and windy. I did get out in the morning to do a little yard work but now I am content to stay tucked inside, catching up on blogs, watching HGTV and Food Network, writing in my journal, and snuggling up with the hubs and the pups! If it were a rainy spring day, then I would grab a blanket and curl up on the couch to read or watch a good movie or two! And probably bake cookies!

  4. I love love love rainy days. Mostly because I'm lazy and it gives me an excuse to lounge around and eat baked goods. ;) Seriously though I love the sound and feel of rainy weather while sittin' on my couch reading or writing or spending' time with the Lord. Sometimes playing board games with the Sassinator. :)

  5. Hi love, I am back. Ready to catch up commenting on all five posts I missed. I had the curtains closed today, so I wouldn't have even have known it rained.

  6. I adore rainy days and especially stormy days. I love to curl up with something to read, a cat in my lap and just day dream. Something hot and steamy from the oven sounds perfect. Or maybe breakfast for dinner which I adore!

  7. 69-71 is my perfect temperature range. Not too hot, not too cold. Love Jillian!

  8. I love the rain. The sound, the cool air, the knowledge that it encourages growth and lush green. I also like the fact that I have an excuse for a bad curly hair day when it is rainy. What I do not like is that the dogs seem to take forever to go to the bathroom when it rains and then I am soaked;) I tend to cook on any day. But on rainy days I open the doors allow the breeze to enter and heat up the kitchen.

  9. That sounds like a perfect day! As a matter of fact I did all of those things even though it didn't rain here!! That Jillian...she's got some real losers to pick from;)

  10. No suggestions for what to do--I just have to say that I love the phrase "enough breeze to ruffle your bangs!"

  11. Rainy days are great as long as they aren't happening too often. I love when I don't have to water my garden or the flowers. Wyatt and I play board games on rainy days and of course I always hunker down with a good book. As for the Bachelorette, we actually know one of the guys. He's the son of someone in my Sunday School class. Wouldn't you know it, it's, David, the one who keeps dropping the f bomb and picking fights with Juan. Not that I care for Juan either though.
